The main objective of the study was to investigate how accounting serves as an inevitable tool for business management amongst SMEs in Ghana. The specific objectives of the study were;

  1. To assess the significance of accounting to business successes.
  2. To examine the relationship between accounting and business successes.
  3. To determine the basic accounting tools often used in the determination of business performance among SMEs.

The study was purely descriptive in nature. The population of the study consisted of all SME’s within the Accra Metropolis. The sample size chosen for the study was 100 SME’s. This study employed the non-probability sampling method, also known as purposive sampling. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data collected.
