The main purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of training and development on employee job performance at Lower Pra Rural Bank. Specifically, the study will;

  1. Examine how training and development contribute to the individual performance and productivity.
  2. The extent of the impact of past training and development on employee’s performance.
  3. Investigate factors affecting training and development of employees at the bank.

The study adopted a quantitative design approach. Quantitative research designs are used when researcher seeks to conduct statistical analysis, use lots of subjects, or strive for accuracy and to generalize. This was necessary because the descriptive research design provide the opportunity for thorough interpretation and explanation of the constructs for this study. The study used the simple random sampling method to select its respondents from the finite population of 300. Specifically, 5 employees were selected randomly from each of the 15 branches of the Lower Pra Rural Bank Limited. This resulted in a sample size of 75 employees for the study. Questionnaires were used as the data collection instrument. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS.v.16.0) was used in the analysis of data.
