Leadership Styles And Its Effect On Employee And Organizational Performance
The main objective of this study is to examine leadership styles and its effect on employee and organizational performance; using Stanbic Bank as case study. The specific objectives of the study were;
- To identify the specific leadership styles exhibited by managers of the bank.
- To identify the most preferred leadership styles to be used.
- To examine how these leadership style, affect the performance of the employees.
- To identify the relationship between leadership styles and organizational performance.
The study adopted the descriptive survey approach of collecting data, because the study was based on the use of questionnaire to elicit information based on people’s opinion to generate data for the analysis of the research topic. The target population for this study comprised employees of Stanbic Bank (East Legon, Airport City, Stanbic Heights and Accra Mall branches) totaling 45 persons. Since the population of forty-five (45) is considered small, all 45 employees were sampled out for the study. A census technique was employed to select the 45 employees. Questionnaires were used as the tool for data collection. Data obtained from the study was quantitatively analyzed using frequencies and percentages. The Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) was used for data coding, entry and analysis.
