The Effect of Retention Strategies on Employee Performance
The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of retention strategies on employee performance; a case study of Ga Rural Bank, Accra. The specific objectives of the study are:
- To examine the current employee retention strategies adopted by the Human Resource Managers at Ga Rural Bank.
- To examine the effect of employee retention on the performance of Ga Rural Bank.
- To assess the major challenges Ga Rural Bank faces in relation to employee retention and how these challenges can be improved.
The study adopted a descriptive study approach. The population chosen for this study was employees of Ga Rural Bank. The bank has six branches. The total number of employees at the four branches currently stands at 100 persons. Four branches were chosen for the study; with 16 employees coming from each of the five branches. Thus, 80 employees were sampled for the study. A simple random sampling technique was employed to select the 80 employees out of all the employee’s whiles cluster sampling was used to select the five branches of the bank for the study. Quantitative approaches to data analysis was used to interpret the data that was collected by means of questionnaire. Data was processed and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS v.16.0).
