The main objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of internal control systems of Adenta Municipal Assembly. Specifically, the study sought to:

  1. Identify the kind of internal control systems that has been put in place at the assembly.
  2. Analyze the reasons that motivated the adoption of internal control systems.
  3. Determine how the internal control systems are monitored and complied with in the operations of the assembly.
  4. Ascertain the impact of internal control measures on the performance of the assembly.

For the purpose of this research, the researcher adopted the descriptive survey method in soliciting the relevant information needed from the study population who form the scope of this study. The target population of this study comprised all the workers of Adenta Municipal Assembly. Fifty (50) employees were sampled out for the study. Hence the sample size for the study is 50. A purposive sampling technique was used for the study. The study used questionnaires as its data collection instrument. Data collected from the respondents was edited and processed.  Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS.v.20) was used to analyze the data collected.
