This study was aimed at analyzing the effects of staff burnout and stress on performance in the banking industry within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. The objectives of the study are:

  1. To identify the factors that cause occupational stress and burnout among the bankers in the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis.
  2. To explore the effect of occupational burnout on the performance of bankers.
  3. To examine the effect of occupational stress on the performance of banking staff among banks in Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The study adopted the exploratory research design. The target population of this study comprised all the employees of all commercial banks within the Takoradi Metropolis. Out of the entire population, seventy (70) employees were sampled out for the study. A probability sampling technique was adopted for the study specifically simple random sampling. Questionnaires were used as the data collection instrument. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to process the quantitative data.
