The Mistrust Between Public Relations Practitioners and the Media
The aim of this research is to examine the mistrust between public relations practitioners and the media; a case study of the Ghanaian Chronicle, Accra Daily Mail and the Statesman Newspaper. The specific objectives are;
- To analyze the media relations functions performed by PR practitioners.
- To analyze the most dominant public relations role played by the senior practitioners in handling media relations.
- To understand the challenges PR practitioners, face when dealing with the media.
The study employed the case study approach and used a mixed method of research. Both questionnaires and interviews were used to gather data for the study. The target population of this study will comprise all the workers of Ghanaian Chronicle, Accra Daily Mail and The Statesman Newspaper in the PR department numbering 20 persons. Since the population is small, the researcher deemed it fit to use the entire population as the sample. A combination of convenience sampling and the judgment sampling was adopted for this study. A questionnaire was chosen as the data collection instrument. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used in the analysis of data.
